Ingredients
For the Tacos
- 1 lb chicken breast or your choice of protein
- 4 tbsp butter
- 4 cloves garlic, minced
- 1/4 cup honey
- 1/2 cup barbecue sauce
- 8 small tortillas (soft flour or corn)
For the Toppings
- 1 cup shredded lettuce
- 1 cup diced tomatoes
- 1/2 cup shredded cheese of your choice
- to taste Salt and pepper
- to garnish Fresh cilantro (optional)
- 1 piece lime, cut into wedges for serving
Instructions
Preparation
- Start by heating a large skillet over medium heat.
- Add the butter and let it melt completely.
- Stir in the minced garlic and cook for about 1 minute, until fragrant.
- Season the chicken breast (or chosen protein) with salt and pepper, then add to the skillet.
- Cook until it’s browned on all sides, approximately 5-7 minutes.
- Pour in the honey and barbecue sauce, stirring to fully coat the chicken.
- Reduce the heat and let it simmer for about 10 minutes, or until the chicken is cooked through and the sauce thickens slightly.
Assembly
- Once cooked, remove the chicken from the skillet and let it rest for a few minutes before slicing it into bite-sized pieces.
- Warm the tortillas in a separate pan or microwave.
- Assemble the tacos by placing the sliced chicken on each tortilla, followed by lettuce, tomatoes, and cheese.
- Garnish with fresh cilantro, if desired, and serve with lime wedges on the side.
