Ingredients
  

Classic Buttercream Frosting

  • 1 cup unsalted butter softened
  • 3-4 cups powdered sugar sifted
  • 2-3 tablespoons heavy cream or milk
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract pure
  • salt pinch

Optional Flavor Additions

  • 1/4 cup cocoa powder for chocolate frosting
  • 1 teaspoon lemon zest for citrus flavor

Instructions
 

  • Beat the butter until creamy and pale, about 3–5 minutes.
  • Gradually add powdered sugar, one cup at a time, mixing well.
  • Stir in the vanilla extract and 1 tablespoon of cream. Beat until fluffy. Adjust with more cream if needed for consistency.
  • Cool cupcakes fully before frosting.
  • Fill a piping bag halfway with frosting. Use your desired piping tip and apply even pressure while swirling from the center outward.
  • Decorate with sprinkles, glitter, or fresh fruit for finishing touches.

Notes

Try cream cheese, whipped buttercream, or Swiss meringue for variety. Always chill frosting slightly if it's too soft. Practice on parchment first to master your technique.
