  • 2 cups French onion soup Choose a thick and flavorful soup.
  • 1 cup shredded cheese Mozzarella, Swiss, or gouda are great options for topping.
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil For searing the chicken.
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon onion powder

Preparation

  • Heat olive oil in a pan over medium heat to prepare for searing the chicken.
  • Season chicken breasts on both sides with garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and pepper.
  • Sear chicken breasts in the hot oil, browning for about 3-4 minutes per side. They do not need to be fully cooked.
  • Transfer seared chicken breasts to the crockpot.
  • Pour French onion soup over the chicken, ensuring it is well covered.

Cooking

  • Cover the crockpot and cook on low for 6-7 hours to allow flavors to meld and chicken to become tender.
  • In the last 30 minutes of cooking, sprinkle shredded cheese on top and allow it to melt.

Serving

  • Serve French onion chicken with the sauce, pairing it with crusty bread or fresh green vegetables.

Notes
