Ingredients

Main Ingredients

  • 1 cup unsalted butter, softened Make sure the butter is at room temperature for better mixing.
  • 3/4 cup granulated sugar This helps to create a light and fluffy mixture.
  • 2 large egg yolks Add one at a time for better incorporation.
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla extract Gives a lovely flavor to the cookies.
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour Sift if necessary to prevent lumps.
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt Balances the sweetness.
  • powdered sugar for dusting Optional, for garnish.

Instructions

Preparation

  • Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and line a cookie sheet with parchment paper.
  • In a large mixing bowl, cream the softened butter and granulated sugar until light and fluffy, about 3-5 minutes.
  • Add egg yolks one at a time, mixing well after each addition. Stir in the vanilla extract.
  • In a separate bowl, whisk together all-purpose flour and salt. Gradually add the flour mixture to the butter mixture, mixing until just combined.
  • Use a piping bag fitted with a star tip or roll the dough into small balls for shaping.
  • For piped cookies, squeeze the dough onto the prepared baking sheet, forming small rosettes or straight lines about 1 inch apart. For rolled cookies, slightly flatten the balls.
  • Bake in the preheated oven for 12-15 minutes or until the edges are light golden.
  • Remove from oven, let cool on the baking sheet, then transfer to a wire rack to cool completely.
  • If desired, dust cooled cookies with powdered sugar before serving.
