Dry Ingredients

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 tablespoon baking powder Ensure freshness for proper rise.
  • ½ teaspoon baking soda
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • 1 tablespoon sugar

Wet Ingredients

  • ¾ cup Greek yogurt (plain or flavored) Can use flavored for extra taste.
  • ½ cup cold butter, cubed Keep butter cold for flakiness.
  • ½ cup milk (whole or low-fat)
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract (optional) Enhances flavor.

Preparation

  • Preheat your oven to 425°F (220°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper or lightly grease it.
  • In a large bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, baking soda, salt, and sugar until well combined.
  • Add the cold, cubed butter into the flour mixture. Use a pastry cutter or your fingers to cut the butter into the flour until it resembles coarse crumbs.
  • Make a well in the center of the mixture and add the Greek yogurt, milk, and vanilla extract (if using). Stir until just combined, avoiding over-mixing.
  • Turn the dough onto a lightly floured surface and gently knead it a few times until it comes together. Pat it down into a rectangle about 1 inch thick.

Baking

  • Using a biscuit cutter, cut out biscuits and transfer them to the prepared baking sheet. Gather any scraps, re-pat, and cut out additional biscuits.
  • Bake in the preheated oven for about 12-15 minutes or until the tops are golden brown and the biscuits are cooked through.
  • Remove from the oven and let them cool slightly on a wire rack before serving.

Notes
