Ingredients
  

Dry Ingredients

  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt

Wet Ingredients

  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 1 cup brown sugar
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract

Mix-Ins

  • 1 cup chocolate chips
  • 1 cup mini marshmallows
  • 1/2 cup chopped nuts (walnuts or almonds)

Instructions
 

Preparation

  • Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  • In a bowl, whisk together the flour, cocoa powder, baking soda, and salt. Set it aside.
  • In a separate large mixing bowl, cream together the softened butter and brown sugar until it becomes light and fluffy.
  • Beat in the egg and vanilla extract until fully combined.
  • Gradually add the dry ingredient mixture into the wet ingredients. Mix until just combined, being careful not to over-mix.

Baking

  • Stir in the chocolate chips, mini marshmallows, and chopped nuts until evenly distributed in the dough.
  • Drop rounded tablespoons of the cookie dough onto the prepared baking sheet, ensuring to leave some space between each for spreading.
  • Bake in the preheated oven for 10-12 minutes, or until the edges look set.
  • Allow the cookies to cool on the baking sheet for a few minutes before transferring them to a wire rack to cool completely.

Notes

For a nut-free version, skip the chopped nuts. You can also experiment with different mix-ins like white chocolate or dried fruit for variations.
