  • 1/2 cup orange zest Avoid the bitter white pith when zesting.
  • 1 cup sugar Sugar helps with flavor and preservation.
  • 1 tablespoon lemon juice

Preparation

  • Combine strawberries, cranberries, orange zest, sugar, and lemon juice in a medium saucepan.
  • Mix well and allow the sugar to coat the fruits, drawing out their natural juices.

Cooking

  • Place the saucepan over medium heat and stir occasionally.
  • Cook until the mixture reaches a gentle boil, then reduce the heat to a simmer.
  • Let it simmer for about 15 to 20 minutes, stirring regularly until the mixture thickens.
  • Check the consistency; it should be spreadable and slightly loose.

Cooling and Storing

  • Remove from heat and let the jam cool in the pan.
  • Transfer the cooled mixture into an airtight container or freezer-safe jars.
