Ingredients
  

For the Hamburger Steaks

  • 1 pound ground beef Aim for around 80% lean for juicy results.
  • 1 small onion, diced
  • 1 cup breadcrumbs
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil For cooking the patties.

For the Sauce and Toppings

  • 1 can cream of mushroom soup Can substitute with homemade cream sauce for richness.
  • 1 cup beef broth
  • 1 cup frozen mixed vegetables Feel free to substitute with fresh veggies.
  • 1 cup shredded cheese (e.g., mozzarella or cheddar) For topping.

Instructions
 

Preparation

  • Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  • In a large bowl, combine ground beef, diced onion, breadcrumbs, egg, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and black pepper. Mix until well combined.
  • Form the mixture into oval patties, about 1-inch thick.

Cooking

  • Heat olive oil in a skillet over medium heat. Cook each patty for about 4-5 minutes per side until nicely browned. Remove from skillet and set aside.
  • In the same skillet, add the can of cream of mushroom soup and beef broth. Stir until smooth.
  • Add frozen mixed vegetables to the skillet. Cook until the vegetables are tender, about 4-5 minutes.

Baking

  • In a greased baking dish, arrange the hamburger steaks in a single layer.
  • Pour the creamy vegetable mixture over the patties, ensuring they are well coated.
  • Sprinkle shredded cheese over the top.
  • Cover the baking dish with aluminum foil and bake in the preheated oven for 25 minutes.
  • Remove the foil and bake for an additional 10 minutes, or until the cheese is melted and bubbly.
  • Let it sit for a few minutes before serving.
