Ingredients
  

Chicken and Sauce

  • 4 pieces boneless, skinless chicken breasts
  • 2 cups marinara sauce Use high-quality or homemade for best flavor.
  • 1 teaspoon Italian seasoning Adjust seasoning to taste.
  • Salt and pepper to taste Salt and pepper Don't be shy with the seasonings.

Cheese

  • 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese Add during last 30 minutes of cooking.
  • 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese Add during last 30 minutes of cooking.

For Serving

  • Cooked pasta Cooked pasta for serving Spaghetti or fettuccine recommended.
  • Fresh basil Fresh basil for garnish (optional) Adds flavor and color.

Instructions
 

Preparation

  • Place the chicken breasts in the bottom of the crockpot, evenly laid out.
  • Pour the marinara sauce over the chicken.
  • Sprinkle the Italian seasoning and season with salt and pepper.

Cooking

  • Cover the crockpot and cook on low for 6 to 7 hours or on high for 3 to 4 hours.
  • During the last 30 minutes of cooking, sprinkle mozzarella and Parmesan cheese on top.
  • Check that the chicken is cooked through and shreds easily.

Serving

  • Serve the chicken and sauce over cooked pasta, garnished with fresh basil if desired.

Notes

Store leftovers in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 3 days or freeze for up to 3 months. Reheat in microwave or on the stove.
