  • 4 pieces boneless, skinless chicken breasts Fresh, high-quality chicken yields the best flavor.
  • 2 cups chicken broth Feel free to use homemade or low-sodium broth.
  • 1 can cream of chicken soup Adds creaminess and flavor.
  • 1 cup carrots, sliced
  • 1 cup celery, chopped
  • 1/2 cup onion, chopped
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • to taste salt and pepper Adjust spices and salt near the end of cooking.
  • 1 package refrigerated biscuit dough Cut each biscuit into quarters for dumplings.

Preparation

  • Begin by placing the chicken breasts in the slow cooker, spread out evenly.
  • Pour in the chicken broth, covering the chicken completely.
  • Add the cream of chicken soup, mixing it well with the chicken.
  • Toss in the sliced carrots, chopped celery, and onions.
  • Sprinkle in garlic powder and season with salt and pepper to taste.

Cooking

  • Cover the slow cooker and cook on low for 6-8 hours or high for 3-4 hours.
  • Once cooked, shred the chicken in the slow cooker using two forks.
  • Add the quartered biscuit dough pieces into the mixture.
  • Cover and cook on high for an additional 30 minutes, until the biscuits are cooked through.

Serving

  • Scoop generous servings into bowls and enjoy. Garnish with fresh herbs if desired.

Notes
