Ingredients
  

Main Ingredients

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour Use fresh flour for best results.
  • 1 cup warm water Ideal temperature is around 110°F to activate yeast.
  • 1 teaspoon sugar Helps to activate the yeast.
  • 1 teaspoon salt Enhances the flavor of the bread.
  • 1 packet active dry yeast 1 packet equals about 2 1/4 teaspoons.
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil Adds moisture and flavor to the bread.

Instructions
 

Preparation

  • In a small bowl, combine warm water, sugar, and yeast. Let it sit for about 5-10 minutes until foamy.
  • In a large mixing bowl, mix together all-purpose flour and salt until blended.
  • Once the yeast is foamy, add it along with olive oil to the flour and salt mixture. Stir until a soft dough forms.
  • Flour a clean surface and knead the dough for about 5 minutes until smooth and elastic.
  • Shape the dough into a ball and place it in a greased bowl. Cover and let it rise in a warm location for about 1 hour.

Cooking

  • Once the dough has doubled in size, gently punch it down and form it into a loaf shape.
  • Grease the inside of the crockpot and place the shaped loaf inside.
  • Cover the crockpot with its lid and cook on high for about 2-3 hours, checking for doneness.
  • The bread is done when it is golden brown and sounds hollow when tapped.
  • Carefully remove the bread from the crockpot and let it cool on a wire rack before slicing.

Notes
