  • 1 pound beef (thinly sliced) Flank steak, sirloin, or any cut of your choice.
  • 2 cups broccoli florets Fresh for best texture.
  • 1/2 cup soy sauce Use gluten-free soy sauce for a gluten-free option.
  • 1/4 cup brown sugar
  • 1/4 cup beef broth Check for gluten-free certification if needed.
  • 1 tablespoon minced garlic
  • 1 tablespoon minced ginger
  • 2 tablespoons cornstarch
  • 2 tablespoons water
  • Cooked rice For serving.

Preparation

  • Start by thinly slicing the beef. Aim for even slices to ensure even cooking.
  • In your crockpot, combine the sliced beef with the broccoli florets, adding the broccoli on top to preserve its texture.
  • In a separate bowl, whisk together the soy sauce, brown sugar, beef broth, minced garlic, and minced ginger.

Cooking

  • Pour the sauce over the beef and broccoli in the crockpot and stir gently to coat.
  • Cover the crockpot and cook on low for 7 to 8 hours or on high for 3 to 4 hours.
  • About 30 minutes before serving, mix the cornstarch with water until smooth and pour the slurry into the crockpot, stirring to combine.

Serving

  • Serve the Crockpot Beef and Broccoli over a bed of steaming rice, drizzling the thickened sauce on top.
  • Garnish with sesame seeds or chopped green onions if desired.

Notes

Slice the beef thinly against the grain for tenderness. Consider searing the beef before adding it to the crockpot for extra flavor. Add broccoli halfway through cooking for a crisp-tender texture.
