  • 4 pieces boneless, skinless chicken breasts (about 1.5 pounds) Chicken breasts are preferred for lower fat.
  • 1 cup low-sugar marinara sauce Choose a high-quality marinara for best flavor.
  • 1 cup shredded part-skim mozzarella cheese
  • ½ cup grated Parmesan cheese

Seasoning

  • 1 teaspoon Italian seasoning
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon salt Adjust to taste.
  • ½ teaspoon black pepper Adjust to taste.

Garnish

  • to taste Fresh basil leaves Optional, for garnish.

Instructions
 

Preparation

  • Pat the chicken breasts dry with a paper towel.
  • Season both sides with salt, black pepper, Italian seasoning, and garlic powder.

Cooking

  • Place the seasoned chicken breasts in the bottom of the Crock-Pot.
  • Pour the marinara sauce over the chicken, ensuring they are well covered.
  • Set your slow cooker to low and cook for about 4-6 hours, checking for doneness at 165°F.
  • About 15 minutes before serving, sprinkle the mozzarella and Parmesan cheese over the chicken.
  • Close the lid and allow the cheese to melt for about 10-15 minutes.
  • Use a spatula to carefully lift the chicken out of the Crock-Pot.
  • Add fresh basil on top for garnish.

Notes
