  • 2 racks baby back ribs
  • 1 cup barbecue sauce Use your favorite store-bought or homemade BBQ sauce.

Spice Mixture

  • 2 tablespoons brown sugar
  • 1 tablespoon garlic powder
  • 1 tablespoon onion powder
  • 1 teaspoon paprika
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1/2 teaspoon cayenne pepper Optional for additional heat.

Preparation

  • Remove the membrane from the back of the ribs and pat them dry with paper towels.
  • In a small bowl, combine brown sugar, garlic powder, onion powder, paprika, salt, black pepper, and cayenne pepper.
  • Rub the spice mixture all over the ribs, making sure to coat both sides.

Cooking

  • Place the seasoned ribs in the crock pot, ensuring they fit snugly without overcrowding.
  • Pour the barbecue sauce over the ribs.
  • Cover the crock pot and set it to cook on low for 6-8 hours.
  • For a crispy exterior, preheat your oven to broil after cooking, transfer ribs to a baking sheet, baste with more barbecue sauce, and broil for 3-5 minutes.

Notes

For best results, allow the ribs to marinate in the spice rub and barbecue sauce overnight. Store leftovers in airtight containers for up to 3 days in the refrigerator, or freeze for up to 3 months.
