Ingredients

  • 6-8 medium-sized medium-sized apples A mix of sweet and tart varieties works best.
  • 1 cup sugar Adjust based on the sweetness of your apples.
  • 1 teaspoon cinnamon
  • ½ teaspoon nutmeg
  • ¼ teaspoon cloves
  • 2 tablespoons lemon juice

Instructions
 

Preparation

  • Peel, core, and slice your apples into manageable pieces.
  • Place apple slices in the Crock Pot.
  • Sprinkle sugar, cinnamon, nutmeg, cloves, and lemon juice over the apple slices and stir gently to combine.

Cooking

  • Cover the Crock Pot and set it to cook on low heat for 8 to 10 hours.
  • After cooking, use an immersion blender to puree the apple mixture until smooth.
  • If desired, continue cooking uncovered for a thicker consistency.

Canning

  • Follow proper canning techniques: sterilize jars and lids before use.
  • Ladle smooth apple butter into prepared jars, leaving space at the top, seal the jars.
  • Process jars in a boiling water bath for preservation.

Cooling and Storing

  • Let jars cool completely on the countertop to ensure proper seals.
  • Store in a cool, dark pantry or cupboard.
