For the Chicken

  • 500 grams chicken breast, cut into bite-sized pieces Tender and juicy chicken
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour For batter coating
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder Helps make the batter light and crispy
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1 cup water To create a batter
  • vegetable oil, for frying Ensure oil is hot enough before frying
  • ½ cup sweet chilli sauce For coating the fried chicken
  • chopped green onions, for garnish
  • sesame seeds, for garnish

Instructions
 

Preparation

  • Wash the chicken pieces under cold water and pat them dry with paper towels.
  • In a large bowl, mix the flour, baking powder, salt, black pepper, garlic powder, and onion powder.
  • Gradually add the water to the flour mixture, stirring until you achieve a smooth batter.
  • Dip each piece of chicken into the batter, ensuring they are well-coated.

Cooking

  • Heat vegetable oil in a deep pan over medium-high heat. The oil should be hot but not smoking.
  • Carefully add the battered chicken pieces to the hot oil in batches. Do not overcrowd the pan.
  • Fry the chicken for about 4-5 minutes or until golden brown and crispy.
  • Use a slotted spoon to remove the chicken and place it on paper towels to drain excess oil.
  • In a large bowl, toss the fried chicken pieces with the sweet chilli sauce until evenly coated.

Serving

  • Serve immediately, garnishing with chopped green onions and sesame seeds for an added touch.

Notes

For maximum crispiness, ensure the frying oil is at the right temperature and fry in small batches. You can customize the level of spiciness by adjusting the sweet chilli sauce.
