Ingredients
  

  • 8 ounces uncooked pasta such as penne or spaghetti
  • 2 tablespoons butter
  • 2 garlic cloves minced
  • 2 tablespoons tomato paste
  • 14 ounces tomato sauce 1 standard can
  • 0.75 cup heavy cream or whipping cream
  • 0.25 teaspoon Italian seasoning
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • Freshly grated Parmesan cheese for serving

Instructions
 

  • Bring a large pot of salted water to a boil. Cook pasta according to package directions until al dente. Drain and set aside.
  • In a large skillet over medium heat, melt butter. Add minced garlic and sauté for about 1 minute until fragrant.
  • Stir in the tomato paste and cook for another minute. Then add tomato sauce and heavy cream. Stir until smooth.
  • Add Italian seasoning, salt, and pepper. Simmer for 5 minutes, stirring occasionally, until slightly thickened.
  • Combine the drained pasta with the sauce. Toss to coat evenly. Add a splash of pasta water if needed to loosen the sauce.
  • Serve hot, topped with freshly grated Parmesan cheese.

Notes

To make it your own, add sautéed vegetables, grilled chicken, or a pinch of chili flakes for heat. Use gluten-free pasta or dairy-free cream for dietary preferences.
