Ingredients
  

Main Ingredients

  • 4 pieces boneless, skinless chicken breasts Ensure even spacing in the crock pot.
  • 1 packet ranch dressing mix (1 oz)
  • 1 can cream of chicken soup (10.5 oz)
  • 1 cup chicken broth
  • 1 cup sour cream
  • 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
  • to taste Salt and pepper Add according to preference.
  • optional Chopped green onions for garnish

Preparation

  • Place the boneless, skinless chicken breasts at the bottom of your crock pot.
  • In a separate bowl, combine ranch dressing mix, cream of chicken soup, and chicken broth. Whisk until well blended and smooth.
  • Pour the ranch mixture directly over the chicken breasts in the crock pot.
  • Add salt and pepper to taste, seasoning the chicken.

Cooking

  • Cover the crock pot and set it to cook on low for 6 to 8 hours or on high for 3 to 4 hours.
  • Check the chicken for doneness approximately 30 minutes before the cooking time is up; it should be cooked through and tender.
  • Using two forks, carefully shred the chicken inside the crock pot.
  • Stir in sour cream and shredded cheddar cheese until well mixed.
  • Cover and let cook for an additional 30 minutes on low.
  • Garnish with chopped green onions before serving.

Notes

For added nutrition, consider adding chopped vegetables like carrots or potatoes. For spice, add diced jalapeños or red pepper flakes. For a thicker sauce, mix cornstarch with water and stir in towards the end of cooking.
