Preparation

  • Start with your cream cheese and butter at room temperature.
  • In a medium mixing bowl, combine the softened cream cheese and butter. Use a hand mixer or a wooden spoon to beat them together until completely smooth and creamy.
  • Gradually introduce the powdered sugar to the mixture. Mix until fully incorporated, resulting in a thick, dough-like consistency.
  • Stir in the peppermint extract and, if desired, add food coloring.
  • Shape the mixture into small balls or press into molds.
  • Spread the shaped mints out on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper and let them sit at room temperature for several hours to dry.
  • Once dried, store them in the refrigerator or freeze for later use.
