Preparation

  • Start by rinsing the fresh cranberries to remove any dirt or impurities. Discard any that are soft or damaged.

Cooking

  • Place the rinsed cranberries in a medium saucepan. Add the sugar and the fresh orange juice to the pan. Mix everything well.
  • Turn the stove to medium heat and bring the mixture to a gentle simmer. Stir occasionally.
  • Cook for about 10 to 15 minutes until the cranberries begin to burst and the sauce thickens.
  • Remove from heat and stir in the fresh orange zest.

Cooling

  • Allow the sauce to cool down to room temperature. Transfer to an airtight container if not serving immediately.
