Comforting Beefaroni

  • 1 pound ground beef Used as the base protein.
  • 1 medium onion, diced Adds flavor and sweetness.
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced Enhances the overall taste.
  • 15 ounces crushed tomatoes Provides the tomato base.
  • 8 ounces tomato sauce Thickens the sauce.
  • 1 cup beef broth Adds richness to the sauce.
  • 1 teaspoon Italian seasoning Adds herby flavor.
  • 1 teaspoon sugar Balances acidity of tomatoes.
  • 1 cup uncooked macaroni Main carbohydrate component.
  • 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese For topping and melty goodness.
  • to taste Salt and pepper For seasoning to preference.
  • Fresh parsley for garnish (optional) Adds a fresh touch.

Instructions
 

Cooking

  • Heat a large skillet over medium-high heat. Add the ground beef, breaking it apart as it cooks.
  • Once the beef starts browning, add the diced onion and minced garlic to the skillet. Sauté for about 3-4 minutes until the onion becomes translucent.
  • Stir in the crushed tomatoes, tomato sauce, beef broth, Italian seasoning, and sugar. Mix well.
  • Bring the mixture to a simmer, then add the uncooked macaroni. Stir until it’s fully incorporated.
  • Cover the skillet and let it simmer for about 15 minutes, stirring occasionally to prevent sticking. Cook until the macaroni is tender and the sauce has thickened.
  • Once the pasta is cooked, season with salt and pepper to taste.
  • Sprinkle shredded mozzarella cheese over the top of the beefaroni. Cover the skillet again and allow the cheese to melt for about 2-3 minutes.
  • Remove from heat, garnish with fresh parsley if desired, and serve warm.

Notes

For leftovers, allow to cool, store in an airtight container. Can be refrigerated for 3-4 days or frozen for up to 3 months. Reheat before serving.
