Ingredients
  

Dry Ingredients

  • 2.5 cups all-purpose flour Spoon and level for accurate measurement.
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 0.5 teaspoon salt
  • 0.5 teaspoon ground cinnamon

Wet Ingredients

  • 1 cup unsalted butter, softened Should be at room temperature.
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 cup brown sugar, packed
  • 2 large eggs At room temperature.
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
  • 1 cup sour cream Can substitute with Greek yogurt.
  • 1 cup chopped nuts (optional) Choose your favorite nuts.
  • 0.5 cup powdered sugar (for dusting) Optional for garnish.

Instructions
 

Preparation

  • Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  • In a bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, baking soda, salt, and ground cinnamon. Set aside.
  • In a large bowl, cream together the softened butter, granulated sugar, and brown sugar until the mixture is light and fluffy.
  • Add the eggs one at a time, mixing well after each addition, then stir in the vanilla extract.
  • Gradually add the dry ingredients to the butter mixture, alternating with the sour cream, mixing until just combined.
  • If using, fold in the chopped nuts gently to avoid breaking them.

Baking

  • Use a cookie scoop or tablespoon to drop dough onto the prepared baking sheet, spacing them about 2 inches apart.
  • Bake for 10-12 minutes or until the edges are lightly golden. The centers may look slightly underbaked but will firm up as they cool.
  • Remove the cookies from the oven and let them cool on the baking sheet for 5 minutes before transferring them to a wire rack.
  • Once cooled, dust with powdered sugar if desired before serving.
