Ingredients
  

Base Ingredients

  • 1 cup unsalted butter Use high-quality unsalted butter for the best flavor.
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/4 cup water
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt

Topping Ingredients

  • 1 cup semisweet chocolate chips They will melt over the warm toffee.
  • 1 cup finely chopped nuts (almonds, pecans, or walnuts) Choose your preferred nuts for added crunch.
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract Enhances the flavor of the toffee base.

Instructions
 

Preparation

  • Line a large baking sheet with parchment paper.
  • In a heavy-bottomed saucepan, melt the unsalted butter over medium heat, stirring gently.
  • Add the granulated sugar, water, and salt to the melted butter, mixing until the sugar is dissolved.

Cooking

  • Increase heat to medium-high and bring the mixture to a gentle boil, stirring constantly.
  • Use a candy thermometer to monitor the temperature, cooking until it reaches the hard crack stage at approximately 300°F (150°C).
  • Once the desired temperature is reached, carefully pour the mixture onto the prepared baking sheet and spread it to about 1/4-inch thickness.
  • While the toffee is still warm, sprinkle the chocolate chips over the surface, allowing them to soften before spreading.
  • Sprinkle the chopped nuts over the melted chocolate and lightly press them in.

Cooling

  • Let the toffee cool completely at room temperature, then break it into pieces of your desired size.
