Instructions

Preparation

  • Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a 9×13-inch baking pan or line it with parchment paper for easier removal.
  • In a large mixing bowl, combine the flour, baking powder, and salt. Whisk them together until well blended.
  • In another bowl, cream together the softened butter and granulated sugar until the mixture is light and fluffy.
  • Add the eggs, milk, and vanilla extract to the butter mixture. Mix until well combined.
  • Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients, mixing until just combined. Do not overmix.
  • Pour half of the batter into the prepared baking pan and spread it evenly.
  • In a small bowl, mix the brown sugar and ground cinnamon together. Sprinkle this mixture over the batter in the pan.
  • Dollop the remaining batter on top of the cinnamon sugar mixture and gently spread it out. It is fine if some of the cinnamon layer peeks through.

Baking

  • Bake in the preheated oven for about 25-30 minutes or until the top is golden and a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
  • Once baked, remove the bars from the oven and let them cool in the pan for at least 10 minutes.

Icing

  • Prepare the icing by whisking together the powdered sugar, milk, and vanilla extract in a small bowl until smooth.
  • Drizzle the icing over the bars while they are still warm, then let the bars cool completely before cutting them into squares.
