Ingredients
  

Dry Ingredients

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour Sifted for best texture.
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/2 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt

Wet Ingredients

  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened Should be at room temperature.
  • 1 large egg Room temperature for better incorporation.
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract

Add-ins

  • 1/2 cup chocolate chips Can use milk, dark, or semi-sweet.
  • Assorted festive sprinkles For decorating.

Instructions
 

Preparation

  • Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  • In a large bowl, sift together the flour, cocoa powder, baking powder, baking soda, and salt.
  • In another bowl, beat the softened butter and granulated sugar until light and fluffy.
  • Add the egg and vanilla extract to the butter-sugar mixture and mix until well combined.
  • Slowly add the dry ingredients to the wet mixture, combining until the dough comes together.
  • Gently fold in the chocolate chips until evenly distributed.
  • Use a tablespoon or cookie scoop to drop spoonfuls of dough onto a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.

Baking and Cooling

  • Bake for about 10-12 minutes, until set but not overcooked.
  • Remove from the oven and let cool on the tray for a few minutes before transferring to a wire rack to cool completely.

Decorating

  • Once cooled, decorate your treats with icing and festive sprinkles.

Notes

Store treats in an airtight container at room temperature for up to a week. Can be frozen for longer storage.
