Ingredients
  

For the Cookie Dough

  • 2 ¾ cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • ½ teaspoon baking powder
  • 1 cup unsalted butter, softened Make sure butter is at room temperature.
  • 1 ½ cups white sugar
  • 1 cup packed brown sugar
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
  • 2 large eggs Use room temperature eggs.
  • 2 cups chocolate chips or other mix-ins (like nuts or dried fruit) Feel free to mix different types of chips.
  • Sprinkles or colored sugar for decoration (optional) Add for festive decoration.

Instructions
 

Preparation

  • Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and line baking sheets with parchment paper.
  • In a bowl, mix together the flour, baking soda, and baking powder. Set aside.
  • In another large bowl, cream together the softened butter, white sugar, brown sugar, and salt until smooth and fluffy.
  • Beat in the eggs one at a time and stir in the vanilla extract until combined.
  • Gradually blend the dry ingredient mixture into the wet ingredients until just combined. Do not overmix.
  • Fold in the chocolate chips or chosen mix-ins until evenly distributed.

Baking

  • Drop rounded tablespoons of dough onto prepared baking sheets, leaving space for spreading.
  • If desired, sprinkle colored sugar or sprinkles on top.
  • Bake for 10 to 12 minutes or until edges are golden brown.

Cooling

  • Remove from the oven and let cookies cool on baking sheets for a few minutes before transferring to wire racks.

Notes
