Christmas Caramel Corn
A festive blend of popcorn and caramel, decorated with colorful sprinkles, perfect for holiday gatherings and movie nights.
Ingredients
For the Caramel Corn
- 1 cup popcorn kernels Use fresh kernels for best results.
- 1 cup granulated sugar
- 1/2 cup unsalted butter Allows for a rich caramel flavor.
- 1/4 cup light corn syrup Provides moisture and sweetness.
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract Adds flavor to the caramel.
- 1/4 teaspoon baking soda Causes the caramel to bubble and become light.
- to taste Red and green sprinkles For decoration.
Instructions
Popping the Popcorn
- Pop the popcorn kernels using an air popper or stovetop method, and set aside in a large bowl.
Making the Caramel
- In a medium saucepan, combine the granulated sugar, unsalted butter, and light corn syrup.
- Place over medium heat and bring the mixture to a gentle boil, boiling undisturbed for about 4-5 minutes.
- Remove from heat and stir in the vanilla extract and baking soda, being cautious as the mixture will bubble.
Coating the Popcorn
- Pour the warm caramel sauce evenly over the popped popcorn and use a spatula or wooden spoon to mix until well-coated.
- Spread the coated mixture on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
Baking
- Preheat your oven to 250°F (121°C). Bake the popcorn for about 30 minutes, stirring every 10 minutes.
- Remove from the oven and allow to cool completely.
Finishing Touch
- Once cooled, sprinkle red and green sprinkles over the caramel corn for decoration.
