  • 1/2 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt

For Decorating

Preparation

  • Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  • In a large mixing bowl, cream together the softened butter and powdered sugar until light and fluffy.
  • Add in the egg and vanilla extract, mixing until thoroughly combined.
  • In a separate bowl, whisk together the flour, cocoa powder, baking powder, and salt.
  • Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet mixture, stirring gently until just combined.

Shaping and Baking

  • Using a cookie press or piping bag, pipe the dough onto ungreased baking sheets in desired shapes.
  • Bake for 10 to 12 minutes, keeping a close eye during the last few minutes to prevent overbaking.
  • Remove from the oven and allow cookies to cool completely on wire racks.

Decoration

  • For an extra special treat, dip the cooled cookies in melted chocolate, then sprinkle colorful toppings before the chocolate sets.
