Ingredients
  

Wet Ingredients

  • 1 cup unsalted butter, softened Ensure the butter is softened for easy mixing.
  • 1 cup brown sugar
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 2 large eggs Beaten, added one at a time.
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract

Dry Ingredients

  • 2 cups rolled oats
  • 1.5 cups all-purpose flour Measure correctly for best results.
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 0.5 teaspoon salt

Mix-ins

  • 1 cup chocolate chips
  • 0.5 cup chopped nuts (optional) Add if desired.

Preparation

  • Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  • In a large bowl, cream together the softened butter, brown sugar, and granulated sugar until light and fluffy.
  • Beat in the eggs one at a time, then stir in the vanilla extract until well combined.
  • In another bowl, mix together the rolled oats, flour, baking soda, and salt.
  • Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients, stirring until just combined.
  • Fold in the chocolate chips and chopped nuts if using.

Baking

  • Scoop tablespoon-sized portions of cookie dough onto the prepared baking sheet, leaving space between each cookie.
  • Bake for 10 to 12 minutes, until the edges are golden brown and the centers look set.
  • Remove from the oven and let them cool on the baking sheet for a few minutes before transferring to a cooling rack.
