Ingredients
  

  • 2 cups heavy whipping cream
  • 1 1/2 cups whole milk
  • 1/4 cup cocoa powder unsweetened and high quality
  • 3/4 cup sugar
  • 1/4 tsp. salt
  • 1 tsp. vanilla extract
  • 1/2 cup chopped chocolate semi-sweet or dark, optional

Instructions
 

  • In a large mixing bowl, combine heavy cream, whole milk, sugar, and salt. Whisk until the sugar dissolves completely.
  • Add cocoa powder and vanilla extract, whisking until well incorporated and the mixture is smooth.
  • Chill the mixture in the refrigerator for at least 30 minutes to enhance flavor.
  • Pour the chilled mixture into your ice cream maker and churn according to the manufacturer's instructions, usually 20-25 minutes.
  • In the last 5 minutes of churning, add the optional chopped chocolate.
  • Transfer the ice cream to an airtight container and smooth the surface. Freeze for at least several hours or overnight until firm.
