Ingredients
  

Dry Ingredients

  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup unsweetened cocoa powder Use high-quality cocoa for best flavor
  • 1/2 teaspoon kosher salt

Wet Ingredients

  • 4 large eggs
  • 2 cups granulated sugar
  • 2 sticks butter, melted
  • 2 tablespoons safflower oil (or any neutral oil)
  • 1 tablespoon pure vanilla extract

Chocolate Chips and Garnish

  • 12 ounces semisweet chocolate chips
  • Flaky sea salt (optional, for garnish)

Preparation

  • Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  • Grease a 9×13-inch baking dish with butter or line it with parchment paper.

Mixing Dry Ingredients

  • Whisk together the flour, cocoa powder, and kosher salt in a mixing bowl. Set aside.

Mixing Wet Ingredients

  • In a large mixing bowl, whisk the four eggs vigorously until well-beaten.
  • Add granulated sugar and whisk until thick and pale yellow.
  • Pour in melted butter and safflower oil and add vanilla extract. Whisk until combined.

Combining Ingredients

  • Gradually add the dry mixture into the wet ingredients, mixing until blended.
  • Fold in chocolate chips using a rubber spatula.

Baking

  • Pour the brownie batter into the prepared baking dish and bake for 28-30 minutes.
  • Allow to cool in the pan for about 15 minutes, then lift out using parchment paper.

Serving

  • Cut into squares, sprinkle with flaky sea salt if desired, and enjoy!

Notes

These brownies are best when slightly underbaked. For variations, consider adding nuts, peanut butter, mint extract, or swirls of coconut.
