  • 6 pieces day-old croissants Tear into bite-sized pieces
  • 4 large eggs Whisk until yolks and whites are combined
  • 2 cups milk
  • 1/2 cup heavy cream
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 tablespoon vanilla extract
  • 1 cup chocolate chunks Semi-sweet or dark chocolate recommended
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt Enhances flavor
  • Powdered sugar for serving Optional for garnish

Preparation

  • Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
  • Tear the day-old croissants into bite-sized pieces and lay them in a greased baking dish.
  • In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the eggs, milk, heavy cream, sugar, vanilla extract, and salt until smooth.
  • Pour the custard mixture over the torn croissant pieces, ensuring they are thoroughly soaked.
  • Sprinkle chocolate chunks on top of the soaked croissants.

Baking

  • Place the baking dish in the preheated oven and bake for 30 to 35 minutes until the top is golden brown and puffed.
  • Allow to cool slightly before serving. Dust with powdered sugar if desired.
