Ingredients
  

Dry Ingredients

  • 2 1/4 cups all-purpose flour Spoon into the measuring cup and level off.
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking soda Helps the cookies rise.
  • 1 teaspoon salt Enhances flavor.

Wet Ingredients

  • 1 cup unsalted butter, softened Should be at room temperature.
  • 3/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 3/4 cup packed brown sugar
  • 2 large eggs Add one at a time.
  • 2 teaspoons pure vanilla extract Adds flavor.

Chocolate Chips

  • 2 cups semisweet chocolate chips Can substitute with other types of chocolate.

Instructions
 

Preparation

  • Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C) and line your baking sheets with parchment paper.
  • In a medium bowl, whisk together the flour and baking soda, then set aside.

Mixing

  • In a large bowl, beat the softened butter, granulated sugar, brown sugar, and salt together until creamy.
  • Add the eggs one at a time, mixing well after each addition, then mix in the vanilla extract.
  • Gradually stir in the flour mixture until just combined.
  • Fold in the chocolate chips until evenly distributed.

Baking

  • Drop rounded tablespoons of dough onto prepared baking sheets, leaving space between each cookie.
  • Bake for 9 to 11 minutes until the edges are golden brown.
  • Allow cookies to cool on the baking sheet for about 5 minutes before transferring to wire racks.

Notes

For thicker cookies, chill the dough for 30 minutes before baking. Experiment with different types of chocolate.
