Ingredients
  

Wet Ingredients

  • 1 cup unsalted butter, softened 2 sticks
  • 3/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 3/4 cup brown sugar, packed
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 2 large eggs

Dry Ingredients

  • 2 1/4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt

Mix-ins

  • 2 cups semi-sweet chocolate chips Using high-quality chocolate chips can elevate the overall taste.
  • 1 cup chopped nuts Optional, can use walnuts or pecans.

Instructions
 

Preparation

  • Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  • Line two baking sheets with parchment paper.
  • In a large mixing bowl, cream together the softened butter, granulated sugar, and brown sugar until light and fluffy.
  • Beat in the eggs, one at a time, then add the vanilla extract.

Mixing

  • In a separate bowl, whisk together the all-purpose flour, baking soda, and salt.
  • Slowly add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients, mixing until just combined.
  • Fold in the chocolate chips and nuts (if using).

Baking

  • Drop rounded balls of dough onto the prepared baking sheets.
  • Bake for 10-12 minutes or until edges are gold and centers are set but still soft.
  • Cool on baking sheets for about 5 minutes before transferring to a wire rack.

Notes

For thicker cookies, consider chilling the dough for about 30 minutes before baking. Store cookies in an airtight container for up to a week at room temperature.
