  • 1 teaspoon 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup 1 cup unsalted butter, softened For the cookie base
  • 3/4 cup 3/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 3/4 cup 3/4 cup packed brown sugar
  • 1 teaspoon 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 2 large 2 large eggs
  • 2 cups 2 cups semi-sweet chocolate chips

For the Buttercream Frosting

  • 1/2 cup 1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 3 cups 3 cups powdered sugar
  • 2 tablespoons 2 tablespoons milk
  • 1 teaspoon 1 teaspoon vanilla extract For frosting

Instructions
 

Preparation

  • Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour a round cake pan or line it with parchment paper for easy removal.
  • In a medium bowl, whisk together the flour, baking soda, and salt. Set this mixture aside.
  • In a large mixing bowl, beat the softened butter, granulated sugar, and brown sugar together until creamy and light in color.
  • Add the vanilla extract and eggs to the butter mixture and mix until well combined.
  • Gradually incorporate the flour mixture into the wet ingredients, mixing slowly.
  • Fold in the chocolate chips with a spatula until evenly distributed.
  • Pour the cookie dough into the prepared cake pan and spread it evenly.

Baking

  • Bake for 25-30 minutes, or until the edges are golden brown and a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.
  • Allow the cake to cool in the pan for 10 minutes, then transfer to a wire rack to cool completely.

Making the Frosting

  • While the cake cools, prepare the buttercream frosting. In a mixing bowl, beat the softened butter until creamy.
  • Gradually add the powdered sugar, mixing on low speed until fully incorporated.
  • Add the milk and vanilla extract, mixing until light and fluffy.

Assembling the Cake

  • Spread the buttercream frosting evenly over the cooled cake.
  • Decorate with optional sprinkles or chocolate shavings.
