Instructions
Preheat your oven to 350°F (177°C) and spray a 9-inch pie dish or cake pan with nonstick spray.
In a mixing bowl, cream together the softened butter and brown sugar until light and fluffy, about 3 minutes.
Add the egg, egg yolk, and vanilla extract, beating until well combined.
In another bowl, whisk together the flour, cornstarch, baking soda, and salt.
Gradually mix the dry ingredients into the wet ingredients on low speed until just combined.
Fold in the semi-sweet chocolate chips.
Press the dough evenly into the prepared pan.
Bake for 22 to 26 minutes, or until the edges are golden brown and a toothpick comes out with a few moist crumbs.
Allow the cake to cool completely in the pan on a wire rack.
If desired, top with chocolate buttercream or additional chocolate chips before serving.
