  • 1 cup cream cheese, softened Ensure it's at room temperature for best results.
  • 1/2 cup butter, softened Use unsalted butter for better control over salt levels.
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 large egg Room temperature is preferable.
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup chocolate chips Choose semi-sweet or dark chocolate as preferred.

Preparation

  • Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  • In a mixing bowl, beat together softened cream cheese and butter until smooth and creamy.
  • Add sugar, egg, and vanilla extract, blending until fluffy and well combined.
  • In another bowl, whisk together all-purpose flour, baking soda, and salt.
  • Gradually mix in the dry ingredients to the wet mixture, stirring gently until just combined.
  • Fold in the chocolate chips to evenly distribute them throughout the dough.
  • Scoop portions of the dough onto prepared baking sheets, leaving space between cookies.
  • Bake for about 10-12 minutes until the edges are golden brown but the centers remain soft.
  • Let the cookies cool on the baking sheet for 5 minutes before transferring to a wire rack.

Notes

Let the cream cheese and butter reach room temperature for a smooth batter. Dough can be chilled for 30 minutes before baking to help retain shape.
