Ingredients
  

Dry Ingredients

  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt

Wet Ingredients

  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 1 cup brown sugar, packed
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract

Mix-ins

  • 1 cup chocolate chips
  • 1/2 cup dried cherries, chopped

Preparation

  • Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper to prevent sticking.
  • In a medium bowl, whisk together the flour, baking soda, and salt. Set this mixture aside.
  • In a large mixing bowl, cream together the softened butter and brown sugar until light and fluffy.
  • Add the egg and vanilla extract to the butter and sugar mixture. Mix well until everything is fully combined.
  • Gradually stir in the dry ingredient mixture until just combined. Be careful not to overmix.
  • Gently fold in the chocolate chips and chopped dried cherries.

Baking

  • Use a spoon or cookie scoop to drop rounded tablespoons of dough onto the prepared baking sheet, leaving space between each cookie.
  • Bake in the preheated oven for 10-12 minutes, or until the edges are lightly golden and the centers look set but slightly soft.
  • Remove from the oven and let the cookies cool on the baking sheet for about 5 minutes before transferring them to a wire rack to cool completely.
