Ingredients

Cookie Base

  • 1 box box of chocolate cake mix
  • 2 large large eggs
  • 1/2 cup vegetable oil
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract

Optional Mix-ins

  • 1 cup chocolate chips optional
  • 1/2 cup nuts optional

For Dusting

  • 1/2 cup powdered sugar for dusting, optional

Instructions

Preparation

  • Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  • In a large bowl, combine the chocolate cake mix, eggs, vegetable oil, and vanilla extract. Mix until well combined, and don't overmix; a few lumps are okay.
  • If you choose to add chocolate chips or nuts, fold them into the cookie dough gently.
  • Using a cookie scoop or a tablespoon, drop rounded balls of dough onto the prepared baking sheet, spacing them about 2 inches apart.

Baking

  • Bake the cookies in the preheated oven for 10 to 12 minutes, or until the edges look set but the centers are still soft.
  • Let the cookies cool on the baking sheet for about 5 minutes before transferring them to a wire rack to cool completely.
  • If desired, dust the cooled cookies with powdered sugar for a sweet finishing touch.

Notes

For chewy cookies, consider chilling the dough for about 30 minutes before baking. Avoid overmixing to ensure the cookies remain tender.
