Ingredients
  

For the Chili

  • 1 Tbsp cooking oil For cooking the onion and garlic.
  • 1 cup onion, diced Adds flavor and aroma.
  • 2 tsp garlic, crushed Enhances the dish's aroma.
  • 500 g ground beef Main protein source for the chili.
  • 800 g diced tomatoes Provides moisture and flavor.
  • 400 g red kidney beans, drained Adds texture and protein.
  • 2 Tbsp tomato paste Thickens the chili.
  • 1 Tbsp sugar Balances acidity.
  • 1 tsp paprika Adds a smoky flavor.
  • 1 tsp cumin, ground Enhances the chili's depth.
  • 2 tsp chili flakes Adds heat and spice.

For the Fries

  • 750 g frozen fries Base of the dish.
  • 250 g mozzarella cheese Provides meltiness.
  • 250 g cheddar cheese Adds sharp flavor.

Instructions
 

Preparation

  • Preheat the oven to 220°C (430°F) for crispy fries.
  • In a deep frying pan, heat 1 tablespoon of cooking oil over medium heat.
  • Add diced onion and crushed garlic, cooking until the onion becomes translucent.
  • Add ground beef and cook until browned, breaking it apart as it cooks.

Cooking the Chili

  • Add diced tomatoes, drained red kidney beans, tomato paste, sugar, paprika, cumin, and chili flakes to the browned meat.
  • Mix well and let it simmer for at least 30 minutes, stirring occasionally.
  • Season with salt and pepper to taste before finishing.

Cooking the Fries

  • Line a baking tray with parchment paper and spread frozen fries in an even layer.
  • Bake for 30 to 40 minutes until golden brown, tossing halfway through.
  • Remove from oven and season fries with salt and pepper.

Assembly

  • Pile the fries high in the center of a baking tray and pour hot chili over them.
  • Generously sprinkle mozzarella and cheddar cheese over the chili.
  • Return to the oven for about 10 minutes, or until the cheese is melted and bubbly.
  • Cool slightly before serving.

Notes

For variations, consider using BBQ sauce, sweet potato fries, or adding more spices to suit personal taste. Leftovers can be stored in an airtight container for up to 3 days.
