A delightful fusion of crispy wonton shells filled with savory chicken, crisp coleslaw, and delectable sauces, inspired by Applebee's popular appetizer.

Ingredients
  

For the Chicken Filling

  • 2 pieces chicken breasts, finely diced
  • 2 tablespoons hoisin sauce
  • 1 tablespoon sesame oil
  • 1 tablespoon soy sauce
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 teaspoon minced fresh ginger

For the Coleslaw

  • 1 bag coleslaw (397g)
  • 4 pieces green onions, thinly sliced
  • 1 tablespoon sesame oil
  • 1 tablespoon rice vinegar
  • 1 tablespoon soy sauce
  • 1 tablespoon honey

For the Tacos

  • 16 pieces wonton wrappers
  • sweet chili sauce, to serve
  • chopped cilantro, to serve
  • sesame seeds, to serve

Instructions
 

Preparation of Wonton Wrappers

  • Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
  • Prepare the wonton wrappers by spraying them with cooking spray or brushing them lightly with olive or canola oil.
  • Drape each wrapper over the sides of a 9×13 baking dish, creating a taco shell shape.
  • Bake for about 7-8 minutes, ensuring they do not burn.
  • Remove from the oven and gently pull them apart to create more space for stuffing, then return to the oven and bake for another 7-8 minutes until crispy.

Preparation of Chicken Filling

  • In a large bowl, mix the finely diced raw chicken with hoisin sauce, sesame oil, soy sauce, minced garlic, and ginger.
  • Heat a large skillet over high heat and add the chicken mixture, sautéing for about 7-8 minutes until thoroughly cooked.

Preparation of Coleslaw

  • In a separate large bowl, combine the coleslaw ingredients: green onions, sesame oil, rice vinegar, soy sauce, and honey. Toss well to coat.

Assembling the Tacos

  • Once the wonton shells are ready, fill each shell with the sautéed chicken mixture.
  • Top with a generous amount of coleslaw.
  • Drizzle with sweet chili sauce and sprinkle with chopped cilantro and sesame seeds.

Serving

  • Serve immediately on a large platter or individual plates.
