  • 4 thighs chicken thighs Bone-in, skin-on preferred for best results.
  • 2 tablespoons paprika Use high-quality Hungarian paprika for authentic flavor.
  • 1 cup sour cream Alternatively, use Greek yogurt for a lighter version.
  • 1 medium onion, chopped
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • to taste Salt and pepper
  • 1 cup chicken broth Use low-sodium broth to control saltiness.

Preparation

  • Heat the olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat.
  • Add the chopped onion and sauté for about 5-7 minutes until translucent and aromatic.
  • Season the chicken thighs with salt, pepper, and paprika.
  • Add the seasoned chicken thighs to the skillet and brown on all sides for about 6-8 minutes.
  • Pour in the chicken broth to cover the chicken completely. Cover the skillet and let it simmer on low heat for about 30 minutes.
  • Remove the skillet from heat and gently stir in the sour cream until fully incorporated.
  • Serve warm with buttered noodles or rice.

Notes

For thicker sauce, remove chicken and simmer the sauce uncovered for a few minutes. Garnish with fresh parsley for color.
