Ingredients
  

For the Chicken Kofta

  • 1 pound ground chicken Use chicken with some fat for juiciness.
  • 1 small onion, finely chopped Finely chopped to blend seamlessly.
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tablespoon fresh parsley, chopped Can substitute with other herbs.
  • 1 tablespoon fresh cilantro, chopped Can substitute with other herbs.
  • 1 teaspoon ground cumin
  • 1 teaspoon ground coriander
  • 1/2 teaspoon smoked paprika
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt To taste.
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1/2 teaspoon red chili flakes Optional for spice.
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil For cooking the kofta.

For the Garlic Yogurt Sauce

  • 1 cup plain Greek yogurt Adds creaminess and protein.
  • 1 tablespoon lemon juice
  • to taste salt

Instructions
 

Preparation

  • In a large bowl, combine the ground chicken, finely chopped onion, minced garlic, parsley, cilantro, cumin, coriander, smoked paprika, salt, black pepper, and red chili flakes (if using). Mix everything together until well combined.
  • Shape the mixture into small oval or cylindrical kofta, using your hands or a spoon.

Cooking Kofta

  • Heat olive oil in a non-stick skillet over medium heat.
  • Once hot, add the kofta to the skillet, ensuring they aren’t overcrowded. Cook for about 5-6 minutes on each side or until golden brown and cooked through.

Preparing Garlic Yogurt Sauce

  • In a separate bowl, mix the plain Greek yogurt, minced garlic, lemon juice, and a pinch of salt. Adjust the seasoning as per your taste.

Serving

  • Once the kofta is done cooking, remove them from heat and let them rest for a few minutes.
  • Serve the chicken kofta hot with a generous dollop of garlic yogurt sauce on top or on the side.

Notes

For best results, let the kofta mixture rest for 30 minutes before shaping. Can also bake kofta in the oven at 400°F (200°C) for a healthier option.
