Softened.

Granulated Sugar

Instructions
Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
In a large mixing bowl, cream together the softened butter, granulated sugar, and brown sugar until smooth and creamy.
Add the eggs one at a time, mixing well after each addition. Stir in the vanilla extract.
In a separate bowl, whisk together the flour, baking soda, and salt.
Gradually blend the dry mixture into the creamed mixture until just combined.
Fold in the dried cranberries, orange zest, and nuts (if using).
Drop rounded spoonfuls of dough onto ungreased cookie sheets, leaving space between each.
Bake for 8-10 minutes, or until the edges are golden brown. The centers should be soft.
Cool the cookies on the sheets for a few minutes before transferring to wire racks to cool completely.
