Ingredients

  • Butter 1/2 cup
  • Granulated Sugar 1 cup
  • Brown Sugar 1/2 cup
  • Eggs 2 large
  • Vanilla Extract 1 tsp
  • All-purpose flour 1/2 cup
  • Cocoa Powder 1/4 cup
  • Baking Powder 1/2 tsp
  • Salt 1/4 tsp
  • Chocolate Chips optional, 1/2 cup

Instructions

  • Preheat the Oven: Set your oven to 350°F (175°C) and line an 8x8-inch baking pan with parchment paper or lightly grease it to prevent sticking.
  • Melt the Butter: In a microwave-safe bowl, melt the butter in short bursts (about 30 seconds at a time). Stir between each burst until the butter is completely melted and smooth.
  • Mix the Sugars and Butter: In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the melted butter, granulated sugar, and brown sugar until smooth and creamy.
  • Add the Eggs and Vanilla: Beat in the eggs, one at a time, followed by the vanilla extract. Mix until everything is well combined.
  • Combine Dry Ingredients: In a separate bowl, whisk together the all-purpose flour, cocoa powder, baking powder, and salt.
  • Add the Dry Ingredients: Gradually fold the dry ingredients into the wet mixture. Stir until just combined—be careful not to overmix, as this can affect the texture.
  • Add Chocolate Chips (Optional): If you're using chocolate chips, gently fold them into the batter for an extra chocolatey treat.
  • Bake: Pour the brownie batter into the prepared baking pan, spreading it evenly. Bake for 25-30 minutes or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out with a few moist crumbs (not wet batter). The brownies should be soft but set.
  • Cool and Serve: Let the brownies cool in the pan for about 10 minutes before transferring them to a wire rack to cool completely. Once cooled, slice into squares and enjoy!
