Ingredients
  

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1.5 cups granulated sugar
  • 2 teaspoons baking powder
  • 1 cup unsalted butter softened
  • 3 eggs large eggs room temperature
  • 1 cup whole milk
  • 1 tablespoon vanilla extract
  • 0.5 teaspoon salt

Instructions
 

  • Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour your cake pans.
  • Sift the flour, baking powder, and salt together in a medium-sized bowl.
  • In a large mixing bowl, beat the butter and sugar together until light and fluffy using an electric mixer.
  • Gradually add eggs, one at a time, beating well after each addition. Add vanilla extract and mix until smooth.
  • Gradually add the sifted dry ingredients, alternating with milk, starting and ending with the dry ingredients. Mix gently until just combined.
  • Divide the batter between the prepared pans and smooth the tops with a spatula.
  • Bake for 30-35 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
  • Allow the cakes to cool for 10 minutes in the pans, then transfer to a wire rack to cool completely.

Notes

Feel free to customize the flavor of the cake with different extracts, or add some chocolate chips or fruit for extra texture and flavor!
