Ingredients

Main Ingredients

  • 3 cups all-purpose flour (360g)
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 3/4 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1 cup unsalted butter, softened (227g)
  • 2 cups granulated sugar (400g)
  • 4 large eggs
  • 1 cup whole milk (240ml)

Glaze Ingredients

  • 5 tablespoons unsalted butter (70g)
  • 3/4 cup granulated sugar (150g)
  • 1/4 cup water (60ml)
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons vanilla extract

Instructions

Preparation

  • Preheat your oven to 325°F (163°C) and thoroughly butter and flour a 10 to 12-cup Bundt pan.

Mix Dry Ingredients

  • In a large bowl, combine the all-purpose flour, salt, baking powder, and baking soda. Whisk together until evenly mixed.

Cream Butter and Sugar

  • In another mixing bowl, beat the softened butter and granulated sugar together on medium speed for 3 to 4 minutes until light and fluffy.

Add Eggs

  • With the mixer on low, add the eggs one at a time, beating well after each addition.

Combine with Dry Ingredients and Milk

  • Gradually alternate adding the dry mixture and whole milk to the butter mixture, beginning and ending with flour. Beat just until combined.

Bake the Cake

  • Pour the batter into the prepared Bundt pan and spread it evenly. Bake in the preheated oven for approximately 1 hour.
  • Check for doneness by inserting a wooden pick in the center; it should come out clean.

Make the Glaze

  • While the cake is baking, prepare the glaze by combining 5 tablespoons of butter, 3/4 cup of sugar, and 1/4 cup of water in a saucepan. Bring to a simmer while stirring for about 2 minutes until slightly thickened, then stir in the vanilla and set aside.

Glaze the Cake

  • After baking, let the cake cool in the pan for about 15 minutes. Invert onto a wire rack and pour the glaze over while still warm.

Cool Completely

  • Allow the cake to cool completely on the wire rack before slicing and serving.

Notes

Serve plain, with fresh fruit, whipped cream, or vanilla ice cream. Great for pairing with coffee or tea. Make sure to use room temperature ingredients and avoid over-mixing.
