These Brown Butter Brownies are a rich, indulgent treat that combines the toasted, nutty flavor of browned butter with the deep richness of cocoa powder. Whether you're baking for a special occasion or simply treating yourself, these brownies are sure to leave an impression.
Preheat your oven to 350ºF (175ºC) and line an 8x8-inch pan with parchment paper, leaving some extra to easily lift out the brownies later.
Step 2: Brown the Butter
Melt ¾ cup butter in a saucepan over medium-low heat. Stir constantly as it turns golden and develops a nutty aroma. This should take about 10-15 minutes.
Step 3: Blend in Cocoa and Vanilla
Once the butter is browned, add ½ cup cocoa powder and 1 tsp vanilla extract. Stir until smooth and glossy.
Step 4: Beat Eggs and Sugar
In a separate bowl, beat 1 ¾ cups brown sugar with 3 eggs until light and fluffy.
Step 5: Combine the Mixtures
Pour the chocolate-butter mixture into the egg-sugar mixture. Stir until well combined.
Step 6: Add Flour and Salt
Add ¾ cup all-purpose flour and ½ tsp salt. Stir gently to avoid overmixing.
Step 7: Add Pecans (Optional)
If desired, stir in ½ cup chopped pecans for extra texture and flavor.
Step 8: Bake
Pour the batter into the pan, smooth the top, and bake for 40-45 minutes or until a toothpick comes out with just a few moist crumbs.
