A delicious and customizable dish that transforms bread into a warm, cheesy pizza topped with fresh ingredients.

Ingredients
  

Main ingredients

  • 6 slices bread slices (large or sandwich)
  • 1 tsp olive oil or butter for toasting
  • as needed pizza sauce for spreading
  • 1 medium onion, chopped into small cubes
  • 1 medium capsicum, chopped into small cubes
  • 1 medium tomato (optional), chopped into small cubes
  • 5 to 6 olives (optional), sliced
  • to taste dried oregano
  • to taste dried basil
  • to taste crushed black pepper (optional)
  • 1 to 1.25 cups grated mozzarella cheese (or pizza cheese) adjust as needed
  • to taste red chili flakes (optional)

Instructions
 

Preparation

  • Chop the onion, capsicum, and tomato (if using) into small cubes, and slice the olives if desired.

Cooking

  • Heat a heavy tawa, flat skillet, or pan on low heat and spread about half a teaspoon to one teaspoon of olive oil on the surface.
  • Place a large slice of bread on the tawa and toast lightly from the base for a few moments.
  • Flip the bread over, and on the toasted side, generously spread some pizza sauce.
  • Add the chopped onion, capsicum, tomato pieces, and olives over the pizza sauce.
  • Sprinkle dried oregano and basil over the toppings, and add crushed black pepper if desired.
  • Top with grated mozzarella cheese, covering evenly, then cover the tawa with a lid and cook on low heat.
  • Once the cheese is melted, carefully remove the bread pizza and place it on a serving plate.
  • Optional: Sprinkle red chili flakes or additional oregano on top before serving.
  • Repeat the process with the remaining bread slices.

Notes

Store leftovers in an airtight container in the fridge for 2 to 3 days. Reheat on a skillet or in the oven for crispy results. Avoid microwaving to prevent sogginess.
