Ingredients
  

Dry Ingredients

  • 2.5 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 0.5 teaspoon salt

Wet Ingredients

  • 1 cup unsalted butter, softened Opt for room temperature for better mixing.
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 cup packed brown sugar
  • 2 large eggs
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla extract

Mix-ins

  • 1 cup colorful sprinkles Consider using nonpareils or jimmies.
  • 1 cup chocolate chips (optional) Use white or dark chocolate for variation.

Instructions
 

Preparation

  • Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C), and prepare baking sheets.
  • In a medium bowl, mix the flour, baking soda, and salt. Set aside.
  • In a large mixing bowl, cream the softened butter with both types of sugar until smooth and fluffy.
  • Add the eggs one at a time, beating well after each addition. Stir in the vanilla extract.
  • Gradually add the flour mixture, mixing until just combined.
  • Fold in the sprinkles and chocolate chips, if using.
  • Drop rounded balls of dough onto the baking sheets, leaving space between each.

Baking

  • Bake for about 10-12 minutes or until the edges are lightly golden.
  • Remove from the oven and let cool on sheets for a few minutes before transferring to a wire rack.

Notes

For a thicker cookie, chill the dough for 30 minutes before baking. These cookies can be stored in an airtight container for about one week or frozen for up to three months.
